The text used in this piece is excerpted from the novel Fang Si-Qi’s First Love Paradise (《房思琪的初恋乐园》) by Taiwanese writer Lin Yi-han (林奕含, 1991–2017). Based on a true story, the novel exposes the hidden sexual crimes committed in the name of “love” against children. At the same time, it is not only about children or about sex. A multitude of abuses, invasions, and indoctrinations—again, all in the name of “love”—are happening everywhere, in different forms and under different excuses. That is the destined reality.
