The inspiration for this piece came from a walking journey through a Tibetan village called Qiaoqi (硗碛), near my hometown. Among the mountains, people sing, dance, and whirl together around the hills, the water, and the pagoda. There is a special song—one of the local folk choruses—called Sayi, which people sing only when praying during a rite.
Accompanied by dance steps, the song’s unique and delicate structure deeply fascinated me and became the foundation of this piece.
